Terms of service
These terms are an agreement between you and SnipAlt ("we," "us") covering your use of the SnipAlt desktop application, website, and alt-text generation service. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them.
1. The service
SnipAlt lets you capture a region of your screen and receive AI-generated alt text for the captured image. The service includes a free trial (a limited number of snips) and a paid Pro subscription with unlimited snips, subject to fair-use rate limits that keep the service responsive for everyone.
2. Your account
- You must provide a valid email address and keep your password confidential.
- You're responsible for activity that happens under your account.
- One account is for one person. Team plans may be offered in the future.
3. Subscription and billing
- The Pro plan is billed monthly at the price shown on our pricing page at the time you subscribe, processed by Stripe.
- Subscriptions renew automatically each month until cancelled.
- You can cancel anytime from your account page ("Manage billing"). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you keep Pro access until then, and you won't be charged again.
- If we change the price, we'll notify you by email at least 30 days before it affects your subscription.
- The free trial requires no payment details and converts to nothing automatically — when trial snips run out, the app simply asks if you'd like to upgrade.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the service to process images that are unlawful or that infringe someone else's rights;
- Attempt to circumvent trial limits, rate limits, or subscription checks;
- Resell, sublicense, or provide the service to third parties as your own offering;
- Probe, disrupt, or overload the service or attempt to access other users' accounts or data.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.
5. AI-generated content
Alt text is generated by an AI model. It is usually accurate and well-written — that's the product — but AI can make mistakes, misread an image, or miss context only you know. You are responsible for reviewing alt text before publishing it. The app makes every result editable for exactly this reason. We make no guarantee that generated text is error-free or meets any particular legal or accessibility standard in your jurisdiction.
6. Ownership
- You own your images and, to the fullest extent we can grant it, the alt text generated for you. Use it anywhere, for any purpose, no attribution needed.
- We own the SnipAlt software, website, brand, and service. Your subscription is a license to use them, not a transfer of them.
7. Service availability
We aim to keep the service available and fast, but it's provided "as is" and "as available." We may occasionally take it down for maintenance, and the service depends on third-party providers (AI and payments) whose availability we don't control. We may update or modify features as the product evolves.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim related to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose. We are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, including lost profits or lost data.
9. Termination
You can stop using the service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms; if we terminate without cause, we'll refund the unused portion of any prepaid period.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the product grows. For meaningful changes, we'll email account holders at least 14 days before they take effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the updated terms.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Missouri, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
